Shin Dong Kim is a professor at the School of Media and Communication, Hallym University, Korea. He founded the Institute for Communication Arts and Technology (iCat) and served as the Vice President for International Affairs for the university. He has been an active advocate and innovator for the globalization of higher education throughout his professional career. His area of research and teaching covers culture and creative industries, media policy and political economy, global communications, and film studies. He is currently leading a five-year national research project on modeling the Korean ICT developments. He is preparing a book on the political economy of the Korean media industries and culture, and writing on colonial experiences represented on the Korean cinema. Dr. Kim has also been teaching at many universities globally including Dartmouth College, Sciences Po Paris, Peking University, City University of Hong Kong, University of the Philippines, Shanghai University, etc. Dr. Kim earned his PhD from Indiana University in Mass Communications.

Aphrodite Salas is Associate Professor of Journalism at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, where her research focuses on collaborative forms of visual journalism and more specifically, the decolonization of journalism education. Current projects include multimedia collaborations with the Inuit community of Inukjuak, the First Nation community Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek and CTV Montreal. Her most recent work is called: “Arctic Shift to Clean Energy,” and shares a story of Inuit climate leadership. The documentary, “Innavik: Leading the way to a clean energy future,” was screened at COP 27, the UN Climate Conference in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, as well as COP 15, the UN Biodiversity Conference in Montreal, Canada.
A veteran journalist with decades of experience in news and feature reporting, Prof. Salas spent most of her on-air career at CTV, Canada's largest privately owned network. She has worked as a national correspondent, anchor, video journalist and assignment editor in small, medium, large and national markets. Her industry honours include five RTDNA awards for excellence in news reporting.
Prof. Salas is also a workshop leader and trainer for the Journalists for Human Rights Misinformation Project, focusing on media literacy and digital investigation. She has trained hundreds of journalism students, journalists and policy experts on how to identify misinformation and disinformation online.

Professor Dr Holger BRIEL is currently Professor of Cultural Theory and Media Studies at BNU-HKBUUIC. Until 2022 he served as the Dean of the School of Culture and Creativity at BNU-HKBU-UIC. He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Theory from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, an M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a B.A. in English and German from Eberhardt-Karls-Universität Tübingen, Germany. He has published copiously in media and cultural studies, philosophy, the social sciences, and international management studies and remains active as a journalist for several international newspapers. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the influential Scopus-listed IAFOR Journal of Cultural Studies and sits as an Editor and Joint Editor on many journal boards. Furthermore, he is the recipient of numerous prestigious research grants and fellowships.

Dejan Pralica, PhD – Full-time Professor at the Department of Media Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. He teaches Radio journalism, Media discourse analysis, Nonverbal communication, Media literacy, Business communication, Protocol and persuasive skills, Critical discourse analysis and Media messages deconstruction.
He received his PhD at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade (Journalism an Communication Science, 2010). He has a master's degree (2005) and a bachelor's degree (2001) at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad (Linguistics Science). He has published three monographs “Radio discourse”, “Who did media choose, and what the parties offered” and “About Journalism and Journalists 2nd Edition” (co-author), many papers in international journals and proceedings.
Areas of interest: radio journalism, media literacy, discourse analysis and nonverbal communication. He worked as a professional journalist and editor (1997-2009) at the Radio 021.

She got her PhD degree from Radio-TV Cinema department in İstanbul University. She worked as research assistant in İstanbul Bilgi University between 2009-2017. She has been working as associate professor at İstanbul Aydin University, Journalism department, Faculty of Communication. She also has been working at Istanbul Bilgi University New Media department as a part time lecturer. Akaydin also lectured at Klaipeda University in Lithuania with Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Programme and she participated in summer academy programme at Thessaloniki International Media Academy both in 2019. Jimmyn Parc is an associate professor at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. Prior to joining the University of Malaya, he was a visiting lecturer at Sciences Po Paris, France and a researcher at the Institute of Communication Research, Seoul National University. He received a Ph.D. in international studies (with focus on international business and strategy) from the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS), Seoul National University, Korea and another in economic history from the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV), France. He has published numerous academic articles and conducted several research projects related to the competitiveness of organizations, industries, and countries. His current research focuses on the cultural industries of Asia and Europe, which includes films, dramas, and music, and their evolution in the midst of a changing business and trade environment as well as new challenges in the form of digitization. Professor Parc is also the co-author of The Untold Story of the Korean Film Industry: A Global Business and Economic Perspective, which was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2021.

Aspriadis Neofytos, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Lecturer of Strategic Communication at the University of Patras. He is also a Research Affiliate at the Center of Information, Technology and Public Life at the University of South Carolina at Chapel Hill researching Disinformation. He has been a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese conducting research on Strategic Communication in International Crises with a focus on domestic home front management. He got his Ph.D. with a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece (IKY) from the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus. Formerly, he worked for the private sector in Corporate and Political Communication agencies and at the Public Affairs and Strategic Communication Advisor’s Office of the President of the Military Committee at NATO HQ in Brussels. Nur Emine Koç, born in 1980, in İstanbul, has her BA and MA degree in English Language and Literature Department. She got her Phd degree on Communication Studies, Maltepe University in 2016 with the thesis of “An Example of Reality Shows on TV within the Context of Consumption Culture: Evim Şahane Program”. She got her Assoc. Prof degree in April, 2023. Between 2002-2009, she worked as an English teacher at colleges and in 2010, she continued her career as a lecturer in İstanbul Aydın University and after getting her degree as an Assistant Prof Doctor in 2016, not only has she given different kind of courses to vocational school, BA, MA and PhD students, but also she has many administrative duties such as Vice Manager at Foreign Languages Vocational School, Head of Foreign Languages and Cultures Department, Head of Applied English and Translation, Head of English Translation Department, Vice Manager at New Media and Application and Research Center. Dimitrios Bouras
Social Anthropologist, photographer and documentarian
DIMITIRIOS BOURAS (b.1965), is a Social Anthropologist, photographer and documentarian working on long term projects which focus on humanitarian issues, conflict and war around the globe.
He has chronicled the world’s most troubled territories since 1981. His work has taken him to the Balkans, the greater zone of Caucasus Eurasia (ex-Soviet Union), the Sub-Saharan Africa, and especially the Middle East.
His current post-doc research, “Beyond Dichotomies: Reassembling Global Challenges through the Local”, is a comparative study that investigates the new form of war: hybrid/‛undeclared war’. He follows developments in the Middle East and in the greater zone of Caucasus – Eurasia, to draw conclusions about the changing nature of modern warfare.
Since 2010, started including in his focus Healthcare – researching on epidemics and the epidemic process: His 2010~2013 research includes the results of a field study among homeless IDU population in Athens, titled “Accusing the Victims of Being the Perpetrators” He investigated the TB & MDR-TB Epidemic in Ukraine, the outcome of which, culminated in the creation of a documentary titled “Forgotten Youth, Ukraine (Human Concerns Award at New York TV & Film Festival 2019). During 2019, he participated on a documentary on assignment for CSIS) “on the Brink of a New HIV/AIDS Epidemic” (filming in USA, S. Africa, and Ukraine).
His latest Anthropological research explores the theme of insularity and what defines island identities in the Eastern Mediterranean, the outcome of which, culminated in the creation of a documentary titled “Being an Islander” (2022) on commission for Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge.
Dimitrios is a frequent lecturer and essayist at several academic institutions and international conferences.

She received her PhD in Communication Studies (Rhetoric and Public Culture) from Northwestern University, United States. Steven Youngblood is the founding director of the Center for Global Peace Journalism at Park University in Parkville, Missouri USA, where he is a communications and peace studies professor. He has organized and taught peace journalism seminars and workshops in 43 countries/territories (30 in person; 13 via Zoom). Youngblood is a three-time Fulbright Scholar (Moldova 2023-24, Azerbaijan 2007, Moldova 2001). He also served as a U.S. State Department Senior Subject Specialist in Ethiopia in 2018.
Youngblood is the author of “Peace Journalism Principles and Practices” and “Professor Komagum.” He edits “The Peace Journalist” magazine, and writes and produces the “Peace Journalism Insights” blog. He has been recognized for his contributions to world peace by the U.S. State Department, Rotary International, and the World Forum for Peace, which named him a Luxembourg Peace Prize laureate for 2020-21

Dr. Cheng Chen Ching is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism & Communication and the Deputy Director of the Centre for Asian Studies at Hong Kong Chu Hai College. He transitioned from a career in Economic Journalism to pursue a PhD in Film Studies at Peking University. Later, he obtained his second PhD in Musicology at the University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Prof. Frith.
His current research focuses on two areas: the first area involves studying the music scene, history, and culture of Taiwan and ethnic Chinese regions in Southeast Asia. The second area involves investigating the relationship between the history, industrial development, social forms, and narrative styles of Chinese-language cinema.
Regarding sound studies in Taiwan, his research involves organizing historical materials related to Taiwanese music. The primary focus is on comparing the development of Taiwanese music during different historical periods and examining its relationship with regional geopolitical and economic development. Current research topics include the study of overseas Chinese and their nostalgic connection to music, as well as conducting oral history interviews with music collectors from Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Another area of investigation is the historical development of Chinese and Cantonese popular music in Southeast Asia.
His second research interest centers around the history of Taiwanese cinema and the economic model of Chinese cinema. The ongoing research project specifically examines the film industry and history of Shaw Brothers. It provides a comprehensive overview of Shaw Brothers' production and distribution processes, studio construction and operations, screenings, distribution channels, as well as film productions and marketing across different eras

Ioanna Georgia Eskiadi is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Department of Journalism and Media Communication at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and is focused on new immerging technologies, communication and journalism. She is a Research Assistant in the same university where she is occupied in different research programs and in project management. Also, she is part of the Digital Communication Network (DCN) Global. She holds a Master of Arts in Risk Communication and Crisis Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Media, and Communication cum laude with praise of excellence from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She has been awarded with scholarships for her undergraduate and postgraduate studies and has been part of fellowships for various organizations. She holds strong in research, communication, and media management gained through her work in NGOs, public and private sectors, and international organizations. Finally, she is fluent in Greek, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Arabic. Her main academic interests include immersive media, new technologies, Tik-Tok, communication, journalism.

Xiao Han is currently a Associate Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Media Convergence and Communication at the Communication University of China. She is also a Managing Editor of the SAGE journal Global Media and China. She obtained her PhD in Mass Communication & Journalism from the University of Westminster in June 2016. Her research focuses on the relationship between digital media and women’s empowerment in the Chinese context. She is particularly interested in the role of online platforms in processes of Chinese women’s self-expression, connection and organising, as well as in how the Internet affects the Chinese female/feminist actors’ political participation in gender equality. Her publications have appeared in the Feminist Media Studies, China Information, Global Media and China, and Springer Handbook of Communication for Development and Social Change. She has taught a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in media and communication at the Communication University of China.

Chen Ching Cheng

Dr. Cheng Chen Ching is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism & Communication and the Deputy Director of the Centre for Asian Studies at Hong Kong Chu Hai College. He transitioned from a career in Economic Journalism to pursue a PhD in Film Studies at Peking University. Later, he obtained his second PhD in Musicology at the University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Prof. Frith.
His current research focuses on two areas: the first area involves studying the music scene, history, and culture of Taiwan and ethnic Chinese regions in Southeast Asia. The second area involves investigating the relationship between the history, industrial development, social forms, and narrative styles of Chinese-language cinema.
Regarding sound studies in Taiwan, his research involves organizing historical materials related to Taiwanese music. The primary focus is on comparing the development of Taiwanese music during different historical periods and examining its relationship with regional geopolitical and economic development. Current research topics include the study of overseas Chinese and their nostalgic connection to music, as well as conducting oral history interviews with music collectors from Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Another area of investigation is the historical development of Chinese and Cantonese popular music in Southeast Asia.
His second research interest centers around the history of Taiwanese cinema and the economic model of Chinese cinema. The ongoing research project specifically examines the film industry and history of Shaw Brothers. It provides a comprehensive overview of Shaw Brothers' production and distribution processes, studio construction and operations, screenings, distribution channels, as well as film productions and marketing across different eras

Lei ZHANG is Professor of Communication and Vice director of the National Centre for Communication Innovation Studies at Communication University of China. He got his PhD degree in communication studies from CUC in 2005. He worked as visiting scholars in University of Pennsylvania (2005), City University of Hong Kong (2009), Goldsmiths College, University of London (2011-2012), Seoul National University (2019-2020) and Macau University of Science and Technology (2022). His major research interests include media materiality, philosophy of media technologies, cultural studies, ethnographic studies of the Internet, and theories of international communications. His works include Anxiety and Hope: A media sociological study of urban poverty in Beijing (2008), etc.

As one of National Top 100 Talents in the broadcasting industry, Professor Qin Yuming serves as a supervisor for doctoral degree at Communication University of China, the deputy dean of Television School and a member of the Journalist Ethics Committee of All-China Journalist Association. Also, he was a visiting scholar at the Journalism School, Missouri University.
Professor Qin has long focused on production of documentaries and micro-videos. His news reporting, features, documentaries, experimental films and other types of works won China News Award and got praises in the FIPA, Changchun Film Festival, Shanghai TV Festival, Dozens of his work got international, national and provincial awards, such as Sichuan TV Festival, Beijing Film Festival, Hong Kong Chinese Documentary Film Festival, etc. In addition, he led and participated in more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, publishing papers of Starlight Award and China Radio and Television Association Award.

Satomi Sugiyama (Ph.D. Rutgers University) is Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Franklin University Switzerland. Her research and teaching interests include emerging communication technologies and interpersonal relationships, culture, and fashion studies. Throughout her career, she has been presenting her research widely in international conferences and events. Her work has been published in such journals as New Media and Society, Fashion Theory, First Monday, and International Journal of Social Robotics, as well as in edited books by Palgrave-Macmillan, Springer, Peter Lang, and Transaction. Sherri Hope Cylver serves as Director of the Center for Media and Informa/on Literacy (CMIL) at Temple University, USA where she is associate professor in the Klein College of Media and CommunicaCon.
Sherri’s teaching and consulCng focuses on media literacy and media industries, with focus on children's media content. She has consulted with Google Kids & Family, PBS Kids, the Digital CommunicaCons Network, Public Journalism Club of Armenia, Thessaloniki InternaConal Media Summer Academy, and the NaConal AssociaCon for Media Literacy EducaCon. Sherri recently served as vice-chair of the UNESCO InternaConal Steering CommiSee for the Global Media and InformaCon Literacy Alliance and is a collaborator with the Center for Scholars and Storytellers.
Sherri is a Fulbright Global Scholar for 2022-2023. She is conducting research among scholars and media industry leaders in Brazil, Australia, and the United Kingdom regarding best practice in developing media content for children.
Sherri’s recent publicaCons include a co-authored chapter in Media Literacy in a Disrup/ve Media Environment (2020) Ctled, “A Snapshot: the state of media literacy educaCon in the US”; and a chapter in the latest ediCon of 20 Ques/ons about Youth and the Media (2019) Ctled, “How are the needs of children considered in children’s media?”.
Sherri talks with kids about the influence of media in their lives on her podcast Kids Talk Media. She has given talks and presentaCons on five conCnents and over 19 countries on media literacy and children’s media topics and has been interviewed by major news outlets including Variety, Los Angeles Times, ChrisCan Science Monitor, Philadelphia Inquirer, Radio Times (NPR), and KQED Mindshig. Sherri was a 3-term president of the Na/onal Associa/on for Media Literacy Educa/on.
Sherri began her career as a television producer. She held various producCon and management posiCons over twenty-five years, including CEO of Independence Public Media in Philadelphia.
